Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) in practice.

KAP is a legal, fast-acting, and evidence-based therapeutic modality used to treat a variety of mental health conditions.

  • Ketamine works by blocking NMDA receptors and activating AMPA receptors in the brain. This boosts neuroplasticity, which is your brain’s ability to form new neural connections. As a result, it can help regulate mood, reduce stress, and create space for emotional change.

The real transformation happens when ketamine is combined with psychotherapy. In a KAP session, my role is to help you process what came up, make sense of the experience, and integrate it into your daily life. That’s what helps the shift feel sustainable and meaningful.

  • Most clients find the ketamine experience calming, expansive, or quietly transformative. The effects typically last around 45 minutes. You may feel a sense of detachment from your body or begin to view things from a new perspective.

Since movement and speech are usually reduced, you'll lie down comfortably while I hold space for whatever comes up. Afterward, we’ll spend time reflecting together, helping you make meaning of the experience. Many clients describe feeling clearer, more grounded, and emotionally relieved in the days that follow.

    • Fast relief from anxiety and depression

    • Processed trauma with depth and safety

    • Unlocked stuck emotional patterns

    • Increased mental flexibility and emotional openness

    • Meaningful insight and self-awareness

    • Spiritual or existential growth

    • Therapy that feels more alive, embodied, and connected

My Approach

Safe Exploration. Real Integration.

Considering KAP often reflects readiness for change. Screening and intake clarify if this path fits your needs while being transparent about what treatment involves. If it feels right, we focus on your intentions, preferences, and comfort. Elements like music, space, and pacing help create support. From the start, the process invites curiosity, collaboration, and trust in your inner wisdom.

While ketamine sessions can be powerful, lasting change usually comes through integration. This is when insights weave into a deeper understanding of your life. The brain’s increased neuroplasticity supports healthier habits and emotional flexibility. Recovery is strengthened by tending to areas most impacted by depression, anxiety, or trauma. Small, steady steps build resilience, growth, and a renewed sense of possibility.

YOU’RE ALLOWED TO WANT MORE

Sometimes healing begins not with striving, but with rest. KAP creates space to slow down, listen, and reconnect with what your system already knows.

Medical consultation

Prior to starting KAP, a medical consultation with a prescribing provider is necessary, both to ensure eligibility and to receive the prescription. If you are already working with one, great! If not, I have vetted referrals for you to set up an appointment with. Heads up - the ketamine itself is always self-pay. but generally affordable.

02

Preparation

We’ll meet for two sessions to establish the relationship, discuss the process, and answer your questions. During this time, we clarify goals, set intentions, and build safety. Billed to INN insurance (Kaiser/United). Otherwise, self-pay at $145.

03

Dosing

You’ll self-administer lozenges in a calm, supported space, either virtually or in person, while I stay present to support. The first dosing session lasts three hours, with subsequent sessions lasting two hours at $175 per hour. The first is billed to INN insurance; hours two-three are self-pay at $175/hour. Self-guided available at a self-pay flat rate of $100.

04

Integration

After each dosing session, we meet to process your experience, explore what surfaced, and support lasting change through reflection and strategy. $80 per 30-minute session. Billed to INN insurance.

Follow-up Medical Consultations

Your prescriber will likely check in regularly to monitor progress and refill medication. If they accept your insurance, these visits may be covered.

Insurance & Pricing:
Medical visits (#1 and #5) may be covered by insurance through your chosen provider; medication is always self-pay.
Therapy sessions (#2–4) may be insurance eligible if you live in CO. Superbills are available except for dosing hours two and three.

  • I’m in network with Kaiser, United, and Select Health, which should cover preparation, the first hour of dosing, and integration sessions.

Otherwise, sessions are self-pay, most of which I can provide superbills for.

Your medical consultations might be covered by your insurance, which you can discuss with them and your medical provider team.

  • Six to eight sessions is the normal amount of dosing sessions.

  • You may not be eligible if you have uncontrolled hypertension, heart issues, psychosis, acute mania, thyroid disease, active substance misuse, or a history of ketamine misuse. Your medical provider will determine eligibility during your consultation.

  • Yes, KAP can be integrated with EMDR. Many clients find that ketamine enhances access to emotions and memories, allowing EMDR to go deeper and feel more connected. The two approaches can work together quite well.

  • KAP may offer rapid relief from symptoms, deeper self-awareness, and a more balanced mood. Like any treatment, it also carries risks. These can include short-term side effects such as nausea, dizziness, increased blood pressure, or altered perception. Because ketamine has the potential for misuse, it should only be used under the care of a qualified professional.
